Jonathan David Wheatley

1989 ~ 2014

Jonathan David Wheatley, "JoJo," passed away on May 1, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on May 5, 1989 in Salt Lake City. He was a beloved son, brother and friend with a passion for snowboarding, wakeboarding and golfing. Throughout his life, he always loved watching basketball and collecting cards of the players. He still enjoyed watching games with his little sister and dad ‚ Go Celtics! He attended Alta High School with the graduating class of 2007 and was working toward a career in the culinary arts while attending the Salt Lake Community College. He was known for giving exceptionally thoughtful gifts at Christmas and taking a special interest in the well being of the family pets. He was devoted to caring for animals, which led to his decision to become a vegan. In the summer of 2012, he finished the Utah Valley Marathon. Jonathan was always a kind person, who touched many peoples' lives and will be remembered as a caring and laid back guy, who never failed to keep life interesting.

He is survived by his parents, David and Carol; sisters Michelle (Jacob), Jennifer (Samuel) and Rebecca; and nephews Carson and Caleb. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Carole Benon Wheatley, and grandfather, Kenneth Monroe Waite. The family sends a special thanks to Lifeline and Odyssey House for all their support.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. May 10, 2014 at the Corner Canyon 5th Ward LDS chapel, located at 13006 South Boulter Street in Draper. Viewings will be held on May 9 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy and prior to the service from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at the church.
