Dorythe Dalton Adams

1927 ~ 2015

Dot, wife, momma, grandma and great grandma, was born in Parowan, Utah, the youngest child of John S. Dalton and Libbie Moneta Benson Dalton. She was a grand daughter of eight Mormon pioneers.

She married her childhood sweetheart, \"Hardy\" Hardison Adams on July 11, 1947 in the St. George LDS Temple. In 1955, they moved with their first three children to the new community of Rose Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. She remained in this home until the last two months of her life, when she moved into her daughter Susan and son-in-law Danny\s home. She is survived by her husband, Hardy, her sons, Kerry (Teresa), J.D. (Kristin), daughters, Amber (Steve), Susan (Danny), Jill (Wolfgang) and Julie (Gary). She has twenty-four grandchildren and forty-one great grandchildren. Her family was the joy and love of her life and she loved them dearly and unconditionally.

She was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a strong and abiding testimony of her Savior. She taught us to pray and that our prayers are heard and answered! She was an amazing example of service it defined her life. She held many callings including twice Relief Society President, the second time when she was 75 years old. After which she promptly accepted the calling to be a den leader. She and Hardy later served as Service Missionaries. Her most beloved callings were those in the Young Women\s Program. She served many years teaching and serving the Young Women she loved and who loved her.

She also served in her community many years as PTA presidents of the local schools and as PTA President of the Salt Lake City School District.

Mom was an independent soul at heart and loved to drive her beloved car. It broke her heart when she could no longer do that a year and a half ago. We hope there is a special place in Heaven where she can drive!

Dot passed away peacefully at 88 years old, Sunday, March 22, 2015, in the home of Susan and Danny, after many visits from her loving family. We know and are grateful for the knowledge she is with her Savior and beloved family members gone before her and is in possession of her precious memories.

Susan and Danny are thankful to have returned to her, in a small way, the service she always gave to us.

The family would like to express our love and gratitude to her granddaughters, Andree Close, Rachael Jones, Catherine Redd, and Danielle Wright for helping her to stay in her home for many months. And a very special thank you to Andree and Rachael, for their loving care of grandma while she was with Susan and Danny. It could not have been done without your love and understanding. We are sure grandma knows now and is so very thankful for you beautiful girls!

A special thanks to IMC Hospice Nurse, Suzie, for your sweet kindness, cheerfulness and help. We love you! And thank you to Larkin Mortuary and Tyler for your fine help.

Her funeral service will be heldSaturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00amin the Walnut Hills LDS chapel on 5838 W 6200 S. A family prayer will occur fifteen minutes prior to the service. Her ashes will be interred at a later date in the Parowan City Cemetery.
