Dana Danger Grey (Gilson)

1983 ~ 2019

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, Dana Danger Grey Gilson, passed away at the age of 35 at home, after a long battle with depression. Dana always fought this disease with courage, strength, optimism, and a sense of humor‚just the way she lived her life.

Dana was born on February 22, 1983, in Salt Lake City, to Neil Forrest Gilson and Sharon Osborne Gilson. She is survived by her parents, sister Laura (MacKenzie) Gilson, niece (Marley), grandmother (Mitzi), aunts and uncles, cousins, co-workers, and friends. She is also survived by three furbabies (Ava, Nebbie and Teeny). Dana was married to Richard Scott Morley, who remains a close friend.

Dana attended Westminster College, graduating with a Bachelor of Art/Business Degree and always was very creative, expressing herself through drawing, photography, and painting. Dana also loved to read, loved music, concerts, theater, movies, and traveling. Her most recent trip was to tour Ireland.

Dana\s career highlights include being a Program Specialist at the State of Utah from 2007-2011, and a Program Manager at Instructure from 2012-2019. She had a true home and family there, with many friends and co-workers. Dana truly loved her job, her work, and her coworkers, and was beloved by them in return.

Dana had her very own style, in the way she lived her life, in her clothing, hair styles, and tattoos. That is something we all loved about her. She had a beautiful, dimpled smile that sparkled with her sense of humor and infectious laughter. Dana loved pizza-as long as there was no pineapple on it!

Anyone who knew her knew Dana's true love was animals, and she rescued and adopted many homeless cats and dogs. To honor her memory, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute, make a donation to an animal rescue group of their choice.

A Celebration of Life is being held for Dana from 11a-2p on February 24th, at the Orangerie Room at Red Butte Gardens. All that loved Dana are welcome to attend and the family requests that you bring stories and memories of Dana to share.
