Marilyn Jane Smith, age 78, passed away Sept. 23, 2016 in South Jordan. Born Sept. 12, 1938 in Bell, California to Melvin James and Audra Mae Booth Ord. Married Rowland Allen Smith on March 24, 1961 in Los Angeles, CA.
Marilyn was an active of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities. Her most rewarding church assignment was leading a women's group for the Bellevue Washington South Stake. She took great pleasure in her quilt making and worked toward each child and grandchild having one of her quilts. Spending the cold winter months on a warm beach in Mexico with family and friends brought her a lot of pleasure. Professionally, she spent her time as a family counselor principally working with women.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Rowland Smith; children Scott Smith, Jon Smith, Suzanne Dye, Gregory Smith, Marc Smith and Megan Dillon; brothers Alan Ord and Kenneth Ord; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter Julie.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Founders Park 2nd Ward, 11677 So. Grandville Avenue (4920 West) where friends may call Wednesday 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment Provo City Cemetery.
