Darlene Ruth Winn Anderson

1924 ~ 2017

Darlene, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 16 surrounded by her daughters. She was born in Salt Lake City to Elmer Peter Winn and Helen Littleford Winn.

She attended Butler Elementary, Union Junior High School and graduated from Jordan High School in 1942, where she was a proud Beetdigger and Charlonian and played the clarinet in the band. Attended Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing from 1942 to 1945 and graduated as an RN. She was in the US Army Cadet Nurses Corp in 1944 and 1945.

Married her high school sweetheart, Paul Anderson on October 9, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They honeymooned in California. They were married for 63 years.

Darlene loved her career as a nurse and worked for 50 years. She worked at Olympus Clinic in Holladay for 38 years. She also loved gardening, winning several Sandy City Beautification Awards over the years. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Southeast Christian Church.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Joan Sutherland. Survived by 3 children, Jeffrey Anderson of Sandy, UT, Jeanine Hanson (Peter) of Kansas City, MO; and Paula Peacock of Sandy, UT; 9 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren; and brother Keith Winn. Her dog and constant companion, Molly, will miss her.
