Garth L. Powell passed away peacefully in his home in Herriman, Utah on January 31, 2020.
Garth was the fifth of 10 children born to Author Enos and Edna Powell. He was born on August 30, 1925. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942-1947 and was in many of the major battles in the South Pacific. He married Elma Bodily on April 28, 1952 and they were later sealed in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
Garth was preceded in death by his daughter Dawn Cherrie Powell Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elma Bodily Powell, sons- Elgarth Powell and Shane (Robin) Powell and daughter Estarla (Kenneth) Tucker. He had many grandchildren and great grandchildren who were a joy to him in life.
A viewing will be held Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Rose Canyon 11th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6869 West Vista Springs Drive, Herriman, Utah. A viewing will also be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 9:00-9:45 AM and the funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
Interment will be in the Altamont/Mount Emmons Cemetery, Altamont, Utah.
