Robert Nash Evert

1920 ~ 2015

Robert Nash Evert, M.D., born to Pearl Nash and John Andrew Evert on June 21, 1920 in Brainerd, Minnesota, died peacefully at home on September 11, 2015.

Robert moved to Glendive, Montana at the age of five when his father took the position of Chief Surgeon for the Northern Pacific Beneficial Association Hospital. It was his boyhood in Glendive where he developed a lifelong respect and love for the natural environment. Robert was a graduate of Shattuck Military Academy, Haverford College and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. After the Army he returned to the University of Minnesota for his urologic residency program and married Doreen Neilund. He moved to Stockton, California in 1954, and began a 35-year practice of urology. Bob loved golf and was a member of Woodbridge and the Stockton Golf and Country Club. He was also a member and past President of the San Joaquin County Medical Society. Bob devoted his life to his family. He was married to Doreen for 42 years prior to her passing in 1992. Bob moved to Salt Lake City in 1993 upon his marriage to Jane Jordan.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, and his children with Doreen, Terry Sickelbower (Rick), Martha Kelly (Timothy) and James Evert, grandchildren Laura Tang (Ed), Alan Rice (Robyn), John, Robert and Claire Kelly, a great grandchild Amelia Tang, his beloved sister Margery Hoppin of Iowa City, Iowa and her children Charles Hoppin, Andrew Hoppin and Jan Hensel. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Andrew Evert, M.D., of Missoula, Montana. He is also survived by Jane's children, William Jordan, Robert Jordan, Cathy Leverkus, and Donnette Hicks.

Robert was a man of the highest integrity and will be remembered for his thoughtful manner and his kindness. He lived a life of curiosity and adventure, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service and reception will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 21st in Salt Lake City at the Monument Park 12th Ward L.D.S. Chapel, 2795 East Crestview Drive. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bob was an avid environmentalist. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Montana, "Crown of the Continent Fund", 32 South Ewing St., Helena, Montana 59601
