Myron William Blake

1943 ~ 2018

Myron William Blake was born July 7, 1943 in Murray, Utah to Raymond Wilford and Sarah Regena Gay Blake. He attended Granger High School and later served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Northwestern States from 1961-1963. After his mission (and a very successful blind date), he married Carol Jean Larsen on June 24, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. They loved their life together as their family grew to include eight children.

Myron enjoyed music and played the saxophone and clarinet as part of the school Dance Band. He also sang with the church choir for years later in life. He played baseball, basketball, and football in high school and continued to play these and other amateur sports throughout his life. His children have great memories attending professional sporting events with him also. He graduated from the University of Utah and worked for Dow Chemical in California as a chemical engineer until he retired and moved back to Utah. As a child, he enjoyed working on cars and fixing things with his dad. He continued that hobby as an adult. He also spent time in the outdoors, camping, hiking and playing sports with his family. His dedicated service to neighbors, church members, family and friends brings many cherished memories.

Myron is survived by his wife, Carol; his sister Bonnie; children Ryan (Lisa), Timothy (Ginger), Rodney (Ana), Richard (Jodi), Tamara (Andrew) Myers, Melinda (Kenneth) Mortensen, Angela (Aaron) Hernandez, and Matthew; as well as 35 grandchildren (with one on the way). He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS church, 7411 S 4800 W in West Jordan. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 3688 W 12600 S in Riverton and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday at the church. The family would like to thank those at Sunridge Assisted Living and First Choice for Myron's care in the last few years of his life.
