MAJ Fernando Cruz Lavana, age 44 of Sandy, UT died tragically February 7, 2019. Survived by loving wife Rachel Lavana (nee Mueller), children Isaac, Luke, Zelie, Simon, Elijah, Jonah and step-children Gabriel and Evangelina; parents, Jorge and Andrea Lavana; siblings Rosaura, Brenda, Joaquin and families.
He was a man who loved God, family, and country. MAJ Lavana served in the US Naval Reserve (2001-2003) and in the US Army (2003-2019).He served 2 tours in Iraq, was awarded the Bronze Star (2006) and the Meritorious Service Medal (2014). During his military career, MAJ Lavana earned 27 medals, ribbons, stars and badges.
Memorial Vigil: Thursday, Feb 21, 2019 from 6-9 pm at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9757 S 1700 E, Sandy, UT 84092. Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament: Friday, Feb 22, 2019at 11:00 am.
Interment with full military honors will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
