Phyllis A. McGrath

1929 ~ 2013

Our amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Phyllis Merle Almstedt McGrath, passed away Nov. 18, 2013 in Salt Lake City. Born Oct. 15, 1929 in Salt Lake City to Merle Baker and Edwin W. Almstedt. Mom lived a life full of love and devotion to her family. She graduated from East High School at the age of 16 and later married Boyd W. McGrath on June 16, 1948 in Salt Lake City. She was a longtime employee at Brown Floral and O.C. Tanner Jewelry where she made many friends.

Mom accepted everyone for who they were and touched the lives of all she met with love, kindness, and compassion. She made friends where ever she went with her unique and endearing personality.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Boyd and daughter, Charlene. She is survived by her children; Merlanne McGrath, Michael B., Paul W. (Jill), Mark E. (Tavia); brother, Ted (Shirley) Almstedt, and sister "Ginny" (Marshall) Dignam; also by 16 grandchildren and many others who considered her grandma; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and special friend of 84 years, Beulah Carr.

Funeral services will be held Sat., Nov. 23, 2013 at 11am in the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple St. with viewings Friday 6-8pm and Saturday from 9:30-10:45am. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
