Thomas Lynn Miller

1939 ~ 2015

On March 12, 2015, Thomas Lynn Miller, 75, "slipped the surly bonds of earth" and bid farewell to pain and strife. With shouts of joy from loved ones passed, he returned to the arms of Heavenly Father. Tom was born in Stockton, CA on July 25, 1939 to William Franklin and Katherine Gillan Miller. His love of sports, especially basketball, led to participation in a program sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His interest in the Church eventually grew beyond athletics and he became a member at the age of 16. Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and a Master\s Degree in Marketing from New York University. After completing his education, he accepted a call to serve an LDS mission to Ireland when he was 25 years of age. It was a pivotal experience that he cherished dearly his entire life.

Tom married Margot Walker Evans July 17, 1974. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 17, 2013. There was never any doubt during their 40-year marriage that Mom was the light and love of his life. He adored her and reminded her often that she was his world. Together they reared 5 children; 3 from her previous marriage and two sons, Thomas Walker and Mark Earl. Tom\s professional career included marketing and sales positions with Walt Disney Productions, Mountain Bell, ROLM and Fox Communications. He owned and operated his own company, Millerunlimited, for the last 15 years. He has been on the staff at Columbia College for over 20 years teaching Marketing classes and helping young entrepreneurs develop their business strategies.

He will be remembered for his warm and genuine love for others. Tom was a people person and made friends wherever he went. He and Mom traveled frequently and consistently returned home to share fascinating stories involving new acquaintances. He leaves a profound legacy of love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and his family. His devotion and support will be missed.

Tom is survived by his wife, Margot, children, John Evans, Allyson Larkins (James), Amy Herrick (Michael), Thomas Walker and Mark Earl Miller, sister, Karen Olson (Terry), 7 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and grandson, James M. Larkins preceded him death.
