Bonnie D. Kirkham,84, ofDiscovery Bay, California, passed away onMay 11th 2014,after a brave and exhausting battle with Leukemia. Surrounded by her family, she died peacefully at home. She was born June 24, 1929 in Salt Lake City Utah to Agnes May Wallwork and Hyrum S. Dykman. She married in 1950 to Richard Ferris Kirkham, her beloved husband, of 57 years. He preceded her death on July 19, 2008.

After attending the University of Utah, Bonnieworked 10 years of her married life at Chevron Oil. She then devoted her life and efforts into nurturing, loving and educating her children and grandchildren. During this time, she volunteered at the University of Utah Hospital Gift Shop for several years, and spent time doing interior design. Following her husband's retirement in Salt Lake City in 1994, they retired to Discovery Bay in Northern California to be closer to their grandkids, and enjoy the California sun and coast. Upon arrival in Discovery Bay, they bought a boat called "Rumors" and spent several years exploring the Northern California Delta river region and the San Francisco Bay. They enjoyed their retirement with extensive travel, golf, bridge and the active senior community in and around their new home.

While residing in Discovery Bay, Bonnie participated in activities of the SIRS, the Caliente Isle Yacht Club, The Discovery Bay Country Club, and the Discovery Bay Women's Republican Club. She is survived by her son Rich (Marilyn) Kirkham and her daughter Tanya (Ken) Coty; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Our beloved Bonnieenjoyed life, had a good sense of humor, and made friends wherever she went. She will be missed but not forgotten.

A celebration of life service will be held from 2:00-3:00pm with a viewing from 1:00-1:45pm on Friday, May 23, 2014atLarkin Sunset Lawns located at 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84108. A private burial for immediate family members and close friends will follow the services.
