Jairene Kay Creer

1935 ~ 2014

On December 25, 2014, surrounded by her loving husband and family, Jairene Kay Van Horn Creer quietly passed through the veil from mortality into immortality after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was greeted by her son David and many other loved ones who had waited long to be reunited with her. Jerrie was born October 25, 1935, to Hal Ives Van Horn and Mary Pearl Nesbit in Salt Lake City, Utah and spent most of her life in the Salt Lake valley. She married the love of her life, Ralph on December 12, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple and together they had three wonderful children; Christine, Kimberlee and David. Jerrie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including Ward Relief Society President. She cherished her testimony of the Savior and the great Plan of Salvation. Jerrie loved being a homemaker so she could always be there for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved her family deeply and dearly. Even though she will be missed immensely by those she left behind, we are comforted to know that one day we will be united again in a more glorious state of happiness and bliss.

Jerrie is survived by her loving husband Ralph, daughters; Christine (Greg) Hadlock, American Fork, and Kimberlee (David) Godfrey, Bountiful, 11 grandsons and 17 great-grandchildren, sisters Marilyn (Neal) Adams and Patricia (Bill) Burleigh. She is preceded in death by her parents and son David.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 12:00 pm, at the Monument Park 14th Ward building, 2255 South Wasatch Drive, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:30 until 11:30 am. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Lawn cemetery.

The family thanks all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at LDS Hospital and the nurses from Intermountain Hospice for the gentle and considerate care they provided in Jerrie\s final days.

DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER THE SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT LARKIN SUNSET LAWN CHAPEL 2350 East 1300 South.
