Lorrie Beard passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 29, 2019. She was born at home on January 4, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She worked until she retired for the Bell system, first as an information operator and then as an administrator.
She was a lifetime learner, always taking classes at the University of Utah in this or that. She talked about finishing her degree right up until the end of her life. She also loved to travel and she had adventures on three continents.
Lorrie was a loving mother and a devoted grandmother. Her grandchildren sometimes referred to her as feisty. She will be remembered by them for her fruit salad, pumpkin cheesecake, and her rolls.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lewis Morgan Griffiths and Jueina Ruth Ogden Griffiths, her sons Lance Griffiths Beard and John Raymond Beard, and grandson David Griffiths Walker.
She is survived by her children, Nathan Beard, Rachel Thomson, Denise Walker, and Morgan Beard, her daughters-in-law Debbie Beard and Shani Beard, sons-in-law David Walker and Dr. Hugh Ker Thomson, grandchildren Aaron Wilson, Lance Beard, Jonelle Walker, Andrew Walker, Jackson Beard, Grant Beard, Sophia Beard, Audrey Thomson and Bradley Thomson.
Lorries was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She survived the tragedies in her life because of her faith in her Heavenly Father and her belief in the heavenly kingdoms.
Services will be held November 9th, 2019 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. Viewing and visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and the funeral service will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
