Dale Clyde Wagstaff

1942 ~ 2014

Passed away on the morning of Monday, November 03, 2014, at his home in Draper, Utah. Dale was 72 years old. He was born June 18, 1942, to Clyde and Theda Wagstaff. Dale spent his youth on a farm in rural American Fork, where he learned the basics of hard work and commitment. As a young teenager, Dale discovered a love of music, and a talent for guitar playing, which would influence the rest of his life, both personal and professional.

If you are a musician in Utah, you will almost certainly remember Dale best as the owner of, and driving force behind Wagstaff Music. Perhaps you attended one of his performance clinics? Or waited in line for one of his infamous closed-door sales? For well over 25 years, Wag's was THE place in Salt Lake City to go for instruments, equipment, and impromptu jamming. Dale opened his first store in a dingy strip mall on 9th East in 1977. But with his keen business sense, and passion for helping young musicians hone and market their talent, Dale was able to keep his store growing and moving into ever grander digs.

Later, when health concerns required Dale to step back from the running of Wagstaff Music, he threw himself and his talent for business into a whole new realm. Perhaps you are one of the many clients who knew Dale as a licensed massage therapist? After completing his second education, Dale opened the short-lived, but nonetheless successful clinic, Lone Peak Therapeutic Massage, bringing comfort and pain relief to many, until he eventually chose to retire himself to the full-time pursuit of his twin passions: golf and fly fishing.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents , and his brother, Richard. He leaves behind his wife, Gae; his children, Brent (Katharine), Chad (Tracy), and Jamie (Torbj«ørn) Taylor; six grandchildren; and his brother, Jerry.
