Our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend, Michael passed peacefully from this life on March 31, 2016 with family by his side. Mike was gradually robbed of the ability to do the things he loved due to COPD.
He loved being active and being outside enjoying nature. Being in any mountains brought him immense joy, but he especially loved the Wasatch Mountains where he spent a lifetime hiking, skiing and camping. He loved running, biking and road trips. Always curious, Mike was an avid reader who rejoiced in learning new things all his life.
Mike fought his battle with lung disease tirelessly and courageously. He never complained, and continued to do the things he loved even in limited capacity as long as physically possible. He was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them. Mike was well known for his extreme generosity and was always giving of his time, spirit, resources and intellect.
Mike was born October 9, 1941 in Salt Lake City. He graduated from Olympus High in 1959 and married Terrie Shepard in 1964. He is survived by his loving wife, Terrie, children; Bradley, Kimberly (Scott) Payne, Michelle (Bryan) Symkoviak, brothers; Greg and Rob and 8 grandchildren. Mike was cremated in accordance with his wishes.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 2pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road, (10600 S.) Sandy, Utah. Friends may visit with the family Ω hour before the service. Thank you to the devoted staff of Quality Hospice for their loving care of Mike.
