Eldon Daniel Carlson

1925 ~ 2014

Eldon Daniel Carlson passed away peacefully Nov. 29, 2014 at the Holladay Healthcare Center. Many will remember Eldon for his military service, physical fitness, and countless lovable stories.

He was born March 25, 1925 in Salt Lake City, and was one of 8 great children, including Helen, Royal, Louise, Floyd, Wes, Ruth, and Jean. To make money during tough times he put on gymnastic shows with his friends and was always in peak physical condition.

Eldon was drafted to the Army August 21, 1943. He fought for our freedom during the invasion of Normandy in World War II. Injured by enemy fire, he returned home from the service. He married Lola Wheeler May 31, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. They remained happily married for 64 years before she died Sept. 20, 2010. Together they had two children - Dan and Doug, who also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law LaRene, grandchildren - Brian, Jennifer (Jared), Jeffrey, and Laurie, his great grandson Mack, and his many nieces and nephews.

He was our veteran, Father-in-law, Uncle, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. We will miss him and the joy he brought into our lives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Butler 17th Ward, 7035 S. Nutree Drive (3340 E.), Cottonwood Heights. A viewing will be held prior, that morning at 9:00-10:45 a.m.
