On December 12, 2019 heaven gained a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Judy Kay Jensen Moody Saunders peacefully left this earth after a valiant battle with cancer surrounded by her family at her home in North Ogden. She was born on August 2, 1943 in Brigham City, Utah to Orlando C. and Sarah Viola Jensen. Sister to Bruce O. Jensen and Pamela Jensen Thomas. Wife to Robert Clair Saunders for 54 years. Mother to TeriLyne Moody (Kelly), Kjerstine Vest (David), Adrien Saunders Jones (Steven), Rickell Walters (Allen) and Mandee Call (Preston). Grandmother to 15 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 6 great-grandchildren.
During her life, Judy attended and graduated from South High School in 1961 after being involved in many clubs. She went on to Stevens-Henager College and graduated in 1962. Soon after, she married Michael Moody and had a daughter, TeriLyne. Judy has always faced adversity and lost her first husband to cancer, becoming a widow and a new mother at the age of 20.
After moving to Logan, she was blessed to cross paths with Robert Saunders and six months later they were married. Over the next 12 years, the small family grew with four more daughters, Kjerstine, Adrien, Rickell and Mandee. Judy, Robert and family had the chance to live in many places, from the states of Washington, Idaho and Arizona to the island of Saipan, finally returning to their home-state of Utah where they have resided for the last 30 years.
Judy and Robert enjoyed traveling. Their experiences included a family cruise to Mexico where Judy was able to expand her beloved wind chime collection. They would travel great distances to attend family weddings and events, often visiting Arizona to see grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most recently, they were able to visit the country of Ireland and explore the wonders of a new culture.
Judy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, holding many callings throughout her life. Over the years, she attended as many temple openings as she possibly could. She would always put others before herself. She was constantly feeding missionaries, making meals for neighbors, making needed items for others and opening her home to all. For 15 years, she served as Achievement Day Leader and loved every second. She started working at the age of 52 at the Salt Lake Airport in the security office. Judy was able to quickly adapt to any changes thrown her way, and she worked there faithfully for 20 years, recently retiring.
Soon after, Judy and Robert made their last big move to be closer to two of their daughters in North Ogden. They made new and everlasting friends, who in her last few days were a godsend to Judy and Robert with their love and support.
A viewing will be held on December 19 from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 PM at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, SLC. The celebration will continue on December 20 at 11:00 AM at the Harrisville 10th ward meeting house, 1560 North 200 West, Harrisville, Utah.
