Draper, Utah - Jerry Griffiths, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away April 30, 2014 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. Jerry was born in Pocatello, Idaho and when he was one year old he said "folks I can see there isn't much potential here" so they moved to Long Beach California where he spent his youth. In 1954 Jerry moved to Provo, Utah to attend BYU. He graduated from BYU with honors in 1958 with a degree in Business Management. After graduating Jerry stayed in Provo to pursue several business opportunities and find a wife. In July 1962 he met his beloved companion Juna Ellsworth and they were married in the Mesa Temple on November 1, 1962. They lived in Provo Utah until 1963 when Juna convinced him to move to Mesa, Arizona to be closer to her family. He said: "she promised me that I would get use to the heat, but after 15 years I figured out she lied to me". In 1978 Jerry and Juna moved their family back to Provo, Utah where they lived until 2011. In 2011 Jerry and Juna moved to Draper, Utah in order to be closer to their children. Jerry was a natural born entrepreneur who founded, owned and operated several successful businesses. Jerry was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings throughout his life. He was passionate about telling everyone he met about the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a master at using humor to break down barriers so he could talk to people about the things that mattered most to him. Jerry spent his life helping others along their way. Jerry is loved and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Juna Ellsworth Griffiths; children; David (Kathy) Griffiths, Debra (Marc) Didier, Donald (Angela) Griffiths, 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Corner Canyon Stake Center, 13366 South 1300 East, Draper, Utah. Friends may visit family on Monday May 5, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service.
