Murray, UT ‚ Tom, our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away surrounded by family and loved ones. He loved his Utes and was the ultimate sports fan and golfer. Tom was born Dec. 12, 1937 to Glen Robert Backus and Beatrice Ellen Penman. He was raised in "Swedetown" where he had many friends and great stories to tell. Tom married his sweetheart Linda Bentley on June 19, 1963 and they had two children. Tom loved to travel with his family and friends and his favorite trips were with his three grandchildren to Hawaii. Tom worked at Utah Sand, Kennecott and CPC.
Tom is survived by his wife Linda of 52 years, Children Cindy and Steve (Julie) and grandchildren Cody, Cassidy and Christine, who were the loves of his life; brothers Bob Backus and Lynn Potter.
A visitation will be held Wednesday evening 6-8. Funeral services will be held Thursday beginning at 1:00. All services will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East So Temple. Interment will take place at Murray City Cemetery. In honor of Tom please wear your Utah red.
