Diane Allred Van Vleet

1944 ~ 2015

Diane passed away peacefully the morning of April 29, 2015 in her home at The Cottages in Draper, UT.

She was born on Nov. 2, 1944 in Taft, CA, the daughter of Kenneth Thatcher and Ruth Roine Brown Allred. She spent her early years in the Provo, Orem area and attended Provo High School where she was a song leader. She also attended the U of U where she was a Sophomore Class Officer, a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and was also a cheer leader.

She married Russell Kearl Van Vleet on Aug. 22, 1966 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised 3 beautiful children, Stacie (Troy) Cichos, Christian James (Jessica) and Nicole (Charles) Woods. They have 8 grandchildren, Samantha, Ashley, Dylan, Abigail, Katelyn, Charles Jr. (deceased), Gabe and Conner.

Diane enjoyed her employment with Robison Hill and Company for nearly 20 years. She had a large number of friends who met every week for 30 years to play tennis. In 2013 Diane and Joyce Hicks won the Bronze Medal in the Huntsman Sr. Games in Womens' Doubles; Diane also won a Bronze Medal in Mixed Doubles with Roger Singler. In 2014 Diane and Joyce won the Gold Medal. She loved life and travelled the world with Russ and friends and especially enjoyed spending time at her home in St. George. Diane was a beautiful person and one of the finest human beings anyone could hope to meet. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. We all take great comfort in the knowledge that we will be with her again and look forward to that day.

She is survived by her husband Russ, her children and grandchildren; also by her siblings, Kenneth (Kit) Allred, Vicki (Bruce) Alder, Geoffrey (Karrie) Allred and Cindi (Matthew) Smith.

A Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 11am in the Riverview 6th Ward, 287 W. River Chapel Rd.,(11620 S.), Draper, UT with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:45am. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens. Online condolences may be shared at www.larkincares.com
