Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Eugene C. VanRoosendaal, age 76, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gene was born on February 26, 1939 to Cor and Dorothy Wirthlin VanRoosendaal.
Gene served 4 active years in the U.S. Navy and also served 23 years in the Utah National Guard, retiring as 1st Sgt. 19th Special Forces Group. Gene worked for the Salt Lake County Sheriff's office for 32 years. He served as a Sergeant on the first Salt Lake County Swat Team. He retired as a Lieutenant and as a Range Master. He also served in the Vernal LDS Temple as an Ordinance Worker.
Gene is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marianne Stillman VanRoosendaal; daughter, Teresa (Frankie), son Gene, son Mark (Kathy) and daughter, Kodie (Paul); 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, who all loved and adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Ron C. and Martin VanRoosendaal.
Graveside services for Gene will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Manila City Cemetery, 480 North 3rd East, Manila, Utah. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, (10600 South), Sandy, UT and on Thursday from 12:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the Manila Ward, 1st West 1st North.
