Bernice Wallace Goddard

1924 ~ 2018

One of God's most energetic and devoted daughters headed home to gather with crowds of loved ones on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Bernice lived a life of service including raising seven children, several foster children, writing for the Deseret News, helping many renal patients with dietetic counsel, participating in Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and serving LDS missions in New Zealand, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and Salt Lake City. She was born in Salt Lake City on April 10, 1924 and lived most of her life there. Bernice married her sweetheart, B. Orson Goddard, in the Salt Lake Temple on May 13, 1947. She was devoted to her family and friends. She was a faithful Latter-day Saint who loved the Savior with all her heart. Since 2001, Bernice lived in St. George to be close to her daughter, Beth, and son, Paul, who have looked after her with great love and care. She relished visits from friends, beloved family, and adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was welcomed to heaven by her husband, Orson, her parents, Harold and Lourhean Wallace, and beloved sisters Ruth Wallace, Marilyn Shumway, Norma Hughes Hansen, and Ann Spurrier.

She will be missed by a multitude of friends and family including her children Wally (Nancy), Alan (Susan), Beth (Scott) Robison, Brent (Joyce), Paul (Olga), Bryan (LaDawn) and Lori (Lance) Nichols. She leaves behind 24 grandchildren and abundant (60-plus) great grandchildren and one sister Jane (Ed) Bulloch.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Retreat for their loving care.
