Arlene Hofeling McCleary

1933 ~ 2013

Arlene H. McCleary, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born November 24, 1933 in Murray, Utah, to Thomas F. and Leah Hofeling.

Arlene attended Murray High School and University of Utah and was employed at EIMCO and E-Systems. She was married to the love of her life, Donald Kay McCleary for 55 years. Arlene's family was her priority; her unconditional love for her family and friends was endless. Her love of wild birds, the outdoors and her mountain view, filled her life with joy. Arlene's ability to stay current was amazing. Social issues to politics, pop culture, TV shows, to the current bands; she knew them all. Her quick wit and humor brightened every day, and will be greatly missed. As Arlene's children spread across the country, she remained the hub of our family, keeping us all connected.

Proceeded in death by husband, Donald K. McCleary, and Brother Lee Hofeling. She is survived by her children; Rowan (Rita) McCleary, Shannon (Stefan) Bender, Paige(Bret) Morrison, and Chase McCleary. Grandchildren; Frank (Carrie) McCleary, Austin (Cara) and Derrick Morrison, and Donald Bender. Great granddaughters; Lily and Maddie McCleary. Brothers; Thomas (Joyce), Blaine (Luana), Craig (Yolanda), Ross (Jackie), and John Hofeling.

Special thanks go out to our family friend and loving son-in-law, David Leslie for all his dedicated and loving support over the years. We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Salt Lake Aging Services, (Meals on Wheels), Midas Creek Home Health, CNS Hospice Care and all her friends at Precision Health Services.
