The lights in our world are so much darker today. John left us for his next adventure and we are missing our bright and loving husband, father, son and dear friend. John was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Paul B. and Jeanne Ward. His sister Barb and his brother Rob loved him so because he was always fun! From kindergarten to junior high, John attended almost every school in the Foothill area so he already had many friends when he went on to the University of Utah. There he became a very proud member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and received his Bachelors degree. He then went on to Westminster College where he received his MBA. His experiences with Flemming Foods Co. and Health Chair Group prepared him well for his career at Harmon's Grocery, where he helped develop new stores and build the company's success.
John's life was made complete when he married the love of his life, Jan, and had their two son's, Jordan and Riley, to join Jan's boys, Nick and Matt. Megan added a special touch to the family when she married Jordan.
John wasted no time becoming known as "mister fix-it" to anyone around him as he was always willing to help and was always ready with a solution to any problem from anyone who needed his help.
As a member of the Alta Club as well as the Salt Lake Country Club, he added more good friends to his life - always adding new and never losing any friends. We miss him so, but hope the fish are biting and the tee times are open for this wonderful special man.
Services will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake City, on Thursday at 12:00 PM. A viewing will be held prior to the services at 10:00 AM. A memorial tribute will be held at the Alta Club, 100 East South Temple in Salt Lake City, on Thursday at 3:30 PM until 6:00 PM for all his many friends and family.
