Doris R. Mackris

1926 ~ 2017

Doris R. Mackris lived to 90 years young and left us on January 19, 2017. She was born Doris Naron Robbins on July 10, 1926 in Sayre, Alabama to Claud and Lavelle Robbins. She moved to Utah as a child when her father worked in the coal mines of Price. After her parents divorced she moved to Salt Lake City and worked in the insurance industry. She worked for TransWestern General Agency until she retired at 70.

She had a sharp wit and a funny sense of humor. With the onset of age we were able to get some insight into what she was like as a young woman and even more interesting tales of her youth (probably tinged with dementia). She didn't take crap from anyone, and could give as good as she got. She had negotiation skills ahead of most women of her time. Doris was a very altruistic woman, who helped all who knew her and took excellent care of her family in all aspects.

She loved Thursday night bowling league, puzzles, trips to Wendover, dinner and dancing at Club Manhattan, family gatherings, See's candy, Alabama football "Roll Tide," and Saturday night pinochle games with George and Jean…always with pie! She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Diane (George) Fullerton, sons Michael (Meredith), Lynn (Annette), seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and two good friends: Mary and Barbara.

Preceded in death by 1st husband, Charles Carpenter, 2nd husband, Pete G. Mackris, son Charles (Chuck) Carpenter Jr, parents, brother Billy, sister Betty and nephew Bob.

Private Services held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
