Donald L. Waterworth

1928 ~ 2018

Donald Waterworth passed away on June 01, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I was born to Charles and Helen Waterworth in South Gate, CA, a port of Los Angeles. When I was six years old my sister, Joan, was born. In 1941 we moved to Salt Lake City where I attended South High School and graduated at the age of 16. I attended the McCune School of Music and then served a mission for the LDS Church, 1948-1950 in Northern England. In 1951 I was drafted into the U.S. Army for 2 years during the Korean War serving in Alaska near Fairbanks. I have always been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I studied organ playing with the Salt Lake Tabernacle organists and taught up to 50 piano students a week. After attending the University of Utah I moved to San Francisco where I was organist and choir director for Saint James Episcopal Church for 22 years. At the same time I also played organ for the LDS Church, so I played 2 services in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. I spent about 40 years of my life in beautiful San Francisco. In 1991 I retired from my 30 years working for the San Francisco Unified School District as a typist and secretary and moved to Salt Lake City. I have taught organ lessons, been playing in Churches and been a member of the American Guild of Organists for all of my adult life. I am preceded in death by my father, mother, and sister but survived by many good friends. Services will be held Saturday, June 9th at the LDS Church, 1870 Parley's Canyon Blvd at 10:00 am followed by internment at the SLC Cemetery by Larkin Mortuary.
