The world lost a beautiful woman anda spunky soul with the passing of M.June Gillett Nielson, 91, on November
19, 2014.Known for her quick wit, honesty andlove for others, it's hard not to crack asmile when thinking about June, evenin this time of intense sorrow. June wasborn June 13, 1923, to Clara and LeslieGillett.
Blessed with the ability to see thepositive side of life, June's humor keptthose around her a little more light-hearted than they would have beenwithout her. June was always the "be positive, stay positive" type oflady and enjoyed watching her grandchildren's activities, traveling,camping, gardening, and above all, was very proud of her family andeverything they accomplished in life.
She spent her career as the Deputy Treasurer for Salt Lake Countyand retired in January 1986. She was President of the Salt Lake LadyElks, raised money for many local charities and enjoyed traveling for alocal singing group.
June loved family gatherings and was famous for late night dancesat the Gillett Family Reunions arm in arm with her twin brothers. Herextraordinary culinary talents and recipes are still being enjoyed by all
today.
She is survived by Valerie June (Steve) Brown, Jeff (Jody) Graham,DeAnne Thygesen, stepchildren, and many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and even a great great grandchild.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 24th at 1:30pm atthe Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N St.
