Louine Hickman Holt was born August 28, 1927 to Fabian and Lucile Hickman. She passed away November 11, 2014 and will be missed by family and friends. She has one surviving sister, Barbara Cowley from Montague, California. Louine was raised in Holladay Utah and graduated from Granite High School. After graduating from the University of Utah she taught school for a few years and then became a counselor at Skyline High School in the Granite School District. She was very active in the GEA and the NEA. She held national offices and put out the NEA newsletter. Her years as a counselor were very productive as she supervised many student activities and functions.
Louine married Grant R. Holt (a professor at the University of Utah) in the Salt Lake Temple in 1971. Their l3 years of marriage were filled with excitement. They lived abroad in Germany and Greece, did much traveling and had great memories. Grant passed away in 1984. Louine was very active in the University of Utah women's Club where she was chairman of the scholarship committee for many years.
Louine was loved by her many nieces and nephews and was involved in all their family activities. (In fact she was known as the boss of the Cowley Family.)
Travel was a big thing in her life and she visited many countries throughout the world. She was a loving and giving person and she will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Larkin Mortuary on Friday November 21 at 10:00 A.M.
