Jeanne Egelund

1952 ~ 2015

Jeanne was born on a beautiful autumn day—October 30, 1952 to Dorothy Higley and Rulon Harold Egelund. The first miracle of her life occurred at birth as the umbilical cord had wrapped tightly around her neck but she was delivered safely. Soon after she was born, the family moved to Mesquite, Nevada. Prior to the move, she had suffered with much respiratory distress, but after moving to the milder climate, she had no further problems. She began school in Layton, Utah and also lived in Erda and Tooele Utah. She was graduated from Tooele High School in 1970. One the favorite times of her life was when she attended Rick's College. She studied clothing and textiles and was graduated with an associate's degree in 1973.

Jeanne was the big sister and enjoyed teaching her little sisters whatever she learned. They played school or Primary. When she started piano lessons she would teach them whatever she learned. Jeanne was creative in designing and sewing doll clothes for all of the dolls and later for herself and others. She participated in 4-H and enjoyed cooking. When she was babysitting she would often suggest making cookie dough—which would almost always be eaten as cookie dough. She also like to style hair and do make-up. Jeanne always had creative ideas and was a source of practical knowledge. She enjoyed bike riding and swimming.

She worked as a sewing machine operator and also in retail sales. She was praised for her aptitude at sewing. She also earned awards at sales and was always willing to go the extra mile for her customers.

Jeanne cared deeply about other people and did many acts of service for others. She had a great memory and could remember everyone's special dates. She gave thoughtful gifts and cards. She liked to help on festive occasions and also decorated cakes.

She loved serving in the Primary. She played the piano and served as Primary secretary, but she really loved teaching the 7-year old children and attending their baptisms.

Some of her favorite things are teddy bears, cats, hearts, roses, polka dots, Parker pens and the color pink. She loved movies—especially Gone With the Wind and anything with Elizabeth Taylor and Clark Gable in it. Blessed with a beautiful face, she enjoyed dressing in a dramatic style.

She witnessed the final miracles of her life during her battle with cancer. She has demonstrated great faith in promised blessings because of her certain testimony of Jesus Christ. She knew that her Father in Heaven would give her strength to endure difficult procedures and He did. She expressed great gratitude for the power of prayer—and often expressed how she could truly feel others praying for her. Another miracle was finding her last home in Silver Pines where she has been loved by many angels on earth. She was also grateful for the abilities and kindness of so many medical personnel. She passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
