Caroline Ruth Churchill Carter

1952 ~ 2015

Caroline Ruth Churchill Carter, age 62, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2015 in Sandy, Utah. Caroline was born on June 17, 1952 in Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom to Robert Michael Churchill Blackie and Bridget Mary Daw Blackie. She married Christopher John Carter in Tsumeb, Namibia, Africa on December 17, 1982.

Caroline lived life to the fullest. Her initial career as a journalist in England and hobby of devouring books on a multitude of topics led to her becoming a Literary Agent and Literary Editor in Utah. But that was not enough: she learned to fly and made a solo flight, played the piano and sang in choirs, being a soloist on a number of occasions; she rode, she tended her garden; she painted and developed a talent for tapestry and embroidery. She was an expert cook who practiced calligraphy, collected china and restored antiques. Not even the onset of breast cancer eight years ago could extinguish her enthusiasm for gaining as much as possible from life. But above all she was a wife and mother par excellence to Christopher, Benjamin, Eleanor and Alexander.

Caroline is survived by her husband, Christopher and children: Benjamin, Eleanor and Alexander; brother, Michael and sister, Penelope. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bridget.

Memorial services for Caroline will be held on Sunday, June 14, at 1:00 pm at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 So.). Please leave online condolences for the family at www.larkinmortuary.com.
