Rodney Day Hunsaker

1949 ~ 2015

Rodney Day Hunsaker, age 66 passed away August 27th 2015.

Born January 4, 1949 to Robert and Raema Hunsaker in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the oldest of 3 sons and one daughter. He married Verlene Ludlow in 1975 and together they had two children Kimberly (Justin) Crump and Ryan R. Hunsaker.

He proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Guam. After he returned he attended Salt Lake community College where he studied to be a draftsman. Rod worked for Ut. Parks and Recreation for 20 years and then became disabled after a long hard illness.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, hunting, fishing and four wheeling. He was a perfectionist at everything he did. He was a master mechanic and could build anything his heart desired. He loved to be in his garage building engines and working on his hobbies. He loved his family and friends, but his illness kept him from enjoying them to his fullest.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and grandparents. Rod is survived by his loving wife Verlene of 40 years, Kimberly (Daughter), Ryan (Son), brothers Robert and Raymond, sister Judy Floyd, and 3 grandchildren Kaylee, Benjamin and Kelsey.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday Evening August 30 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. A private graveside service will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
