Leah James Peterson

1923 ~ 2013

Leah James Peterson passed away November 25, 2013 in Salt Lake City. She was born June 1, 1923 in New York City to Saul James and Mary Stowell James Corsa. She was raised in New York City and attended schools there.

During World War II, she enlisted in the Army and later the Air Force where she served her country at home and overseas. She was serving in Panama when she met her husband, Dennis N. Peterson. They were married in New York City on June 11, 1948. She received an Honorable Discharge from the service and became an Air Force wife to her husband, Dennis, who was a pilot for over 20 years. They traveled a lot and had many different homes. After Dennis' retirement, Leah continued to support him in all of his endeavors. She enjoyed reading, taking walks, visiting with her family and spoiling her granddaughters.

She is survived by her son, Lance (Diane), two granddaughters, Carolyn (Mohammad) and Kathryn and one great-granddaughter, Julia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis, her parents and her brother, George.

The family would like to thank Heartwood Home Health and Hospice and The Avenues Courtyard for the care they gave Leah during the last months of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Friends and family may gather Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., where a brief service will be held at 2:00 p.m., followed by a grave dedication at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
