Debra Susan Smith our loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away January 10, 2014 at the age of 58 from Lou Gehrig's Disease. Born in Dallas TX to Bill and Joida Rankin. She moved with her family to Salt Lake where she met Farand Smith. They were married soon after and raised two wonderful sons together.
Debra was a loving and devote mother who enjoyed quilting, gardening, interior design, landscaping, and most of all playing with her granddaughters. She had a lifelong love for animals volunteering as a docent at Hogle Zoo, earning multiple volunteer of the year awards from the Humane Society of Utah and working as a Vet tech.
She is survived by her husband, Farand Smith, sons Christopher Smith his wife Meighan and Corey Smith his wife Danille Renfro, granddaughters, Alina Smith, Makayla Smith and Lydia Renfro-Smith, father, Bill Rankin and sister, Celia McCarthy.
Preceded in Death by her mother, Joida Rankin.
The family would like to thank the ALS Clinic at the University of Utah, Hospice for Utah, and friends and neighbors for their love and care.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 East 1300 South Salt Lake City, Utah at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held Tuesday, from 6-8 PM at Larkin Sunset Lawn and Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of Flowers donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in their support of ALS is appreciated.
