Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend returned to her Heavenly Father on March 2, 2014 in SLC, UT. Dorothy was born on January 31, 1926 to Joseph Forbes and Gladys Grose Done. She married Woodrow W. Simons on May 13, 1949 in SLC, UT. Woodrow preceded her in death on December 24, 1994.
Dorothy was a fighter, never giving up on anything. She fought cancer and was recently diagnosed with liver cancer. She was loved by all who knew her. Her spunky personality and sense of humor kept us all going.
An extra special thank you to Brent for taking such great care of Mom. We also would like to thank the U of U Hospital for their great care.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Marcia Hedenstrom, Becky (Kevin) Stephensen, Brent Simons; grandchildren: Jenni, Nisha (Carey) and Candice; great-grandchildren: KassiDee, Alexis, Daejah and Irieyona; sister, Virginia Dowden. Preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Graveside services for Dorothy will be held on Thur., Mar. 6, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North "N" Street. A viewing will be held on Thur. morning from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. So. Temple, SLC, UT, prior to the services.
