Richard Merrill Gardner

1938 ~ 2018

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Richard M. Gardner, passed away on October 26, 2018 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born in Provo, Utah to Frank and Ada Gardner. Dick married Margo Perkins in the Salt Lake Temple on June 8, 1961. He served as a missionary for the LDS Church in the Southern Far East Mission.

Upon graduation from Brigham Young University, Dick and Margo moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked for the accounting firm, Deloitte, becoming a partner in 1973. After a busy, successful career he retired from Deloitte in 2000. He continued to be involved in the accounting world serving on several boards. He taught a class in the fifth-year accounting program at ASU. He worked with the Phoenix Youth Symphony for fifteen years. He was active in the LDS church where he especially enjoyed working with the youth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Frank Gardner, Marjorie Fults, Helen Goold and Adene Houtz. He is survived by his wife, Margo, and their children, Stacey (Randy) Page, Jeff (Debbie), and Brad (Julia), his seven grandchildren: Erica (Marcus) Hardy, Brian (Courtney) Page, Trevor (Logan) Page, Jake Gardner, Gage Gardner, Kade Gardner and Ada Gardner, and his two great grandchildren Chase and Ty Hardy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Phoenix Youth Symphony
