Arthur Jager

1924 ~ 2014

Our beloved family patriarch, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and friend, Arthur Jager, passed away peacefully Sept. 12, 2014 surrounded by his loved ones. Arthur was born Feb 8, 1924 in Salt Lake City. The youngest of eight children, Arthur grew up in the Sugarhouse area where he met his beloved wife, Carol Leone Deardorff during a church dance at the Edgehill Ward beginning a long, fulfilling and devoted love affair.

Arthur served his country as an officer and pilot in the United States Air Force during World War II.

As a successful entrepreneur he designed, built, managed and developed commercial and residential properties throughout Utah.

For 90 years, Arthur was the leader, role model and visionary of his family. He taught integrity, hard work and strong moral values. Through his contributions to education his legacy will be felt by his family for generations to come.

Over the years, Arthur enjoyed activities with his family and friends including boating, camping, fishing, golfing, skiing, traveling, playing bridge and Saturday night dancing. He especially enjoyed spending time at Bear Lake.

Arthur is survived by four children: Steven (Mona), Scott (Rebecca), Susan (John) and Dirk (Jennifer); 8 grandchildren: Zachary, Stephanie, Angela, Matthew, Todd, Benjamin, Samantha and Alexandra as well as 8 great grandchildren; his sister, Clara Bolton, brother-in-law Paul Deardorff, and sisters-in-law Cora Deardorff and Faye Jager. He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Carol Leone Jager, his parents Arjen and Tryntje and siblings Harry, Alma, Arjen Jr., Edward, Rose and Evelyn.

He will be greatly missed and his memory will be in our hearts every day. Special thanks to his caregivers Connie, Janice and Imelda.

Please join us in a celebration of Arthur\s life Thursday September 18th, 2014 at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) Sandy. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 1:45, the ceremony will begin at 2:00pm with Interment to follow.
