Christopher Knowlton Graehl

1956 ~ 2014

Christopher Knowlton Graehl died on December 22, 2014, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Ogden, Utah on February 19, 1956, to Richard Norman Graehl and Esther Knowlton Graehl.

He enjoyed hiking and biking in the mountains of Utah, and had a strong connection with his adopted home, the islands of Hawaii, where he lived for several years, surfing and swimming with dolphins, and working as a massage therapist for a time. He also served an LDS mission in Uruguay. He had a kind and gentle heart. Throughout his life he wrote poetry, and cared for birds and stray animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Norman Graehl and Esther Knowlton Graehl, and his sister, Amelia Graehl.

He is survived by 7 of his 9 siblings, Catherine K. Graehl Calhoun (Wayne), Mary Jane Graehl Sundstrom (Eric), Jonathan Knowlton Graehl (Daphne), Edmund Adam Graehl, Joseph Knowlton Graehl (Lisa), Elizabeth Graehl Hughes (Ron), Gretchen Ruth Graehl, and a large extended family.

In honor and celebration of his life, a gathering of close friends and family will be held January 3, 2015, at 12 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple.
