Norma W. Rasmussen

1921 ~ 2014

Our sweet, beautiful sister, aunt, mother, wife and friend, slipped into eternity, peacefully in the early hours of Friday May 30, 2014 in Murray, Utah. Norma was born to Ervin E. and Lucille Wright on May 18, 1921 in Ferron, Utah. She had a wonderful childhood, growing up in rural Price Utah and graduated from Carbon High School.

She then went off to the big city and attended Henagers' Business College. Upon completion of her program she left Salt Lake City and returned to Carbon Count to become a Utah State Extension Agent.

She married Morris Rasmussen on February 21, 1943 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had on little son, Ervin Lawrence, who died April 15, 1945. Norma went on to a 38 year career in management at Z.C.M.I. Department Store, where she was a much loved employee who made many life long friends.

Norma served in various callings in her LDS Ward. She especially loved working in Relief Society and being a visiting teacher.

She loved spending time with her husband Morris, going on road trips throughout the North West, which always included finding the best fishing spots.

In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. She was also an expert in the almost lost art of tatting and felt privileged to be able to tat alter cloths for several LDS temples.

Her love for reading was unequaled. The last several years of her life she lost her ability to read due to macular degeneration, which was a source of great sadness and frustration to her. There for, her eyes were donated to the Moran Eye Center. She lived in her Millcreek home for 66 years until the last 18 months when she moved to Legacy Retirement Community in South Jordan.

A special thank you to her branch friends and the employees there, who were so very kind and caring.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, brother Max Wright, and sister LaRue Oliver.

She is survived by a sister, Carol Beacco and many, many loving nieces and nephews' and their children.

Funeral services for Norma will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Larkin Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South. Friends may call from 10:00 ‚ 10:45 AM and the funeral will be held immediately following at 11:00 AM. Interment at the same location.
