Lois Roxana Heermance

1928 ~ 2017

Lois Roxana Heermance, "Peg," passed away July 22, 2017, Salt Lake City, Utah. Lois was born to George Seely Heermance and Annie Maude Teter Heermance on April 17, 1928.

Retired Branch Administrator, MetLife Insurance Company where she was employed for 41 years. In 1976-77, she was president of the Denver Region Veterans Association and also received the Frederick Eckes award as outstanding Veteran of the year.

From the 1960s through the early 1990s, she was very active in several photographic groups. For three consecutive years she received the "photographer of the year" award. Peg had also earned a three-star exhibition rating with the Photographic Society of America.

For many years Peg belonged to both the Embroidery and Needlepoint Guilds. Pieces of her needlework are in the Governor's Mansion, Cathedral of the Madeleine, and the Episcopal Church on Foothill Drive. For many years she was a judge of needlework at the Utah State Fair.

In her retirement years, Peg was busy with her quilting friends making quilts, which gave her many hours of pleasure, especially in applique work.

Peg is preceded in death by her Father George S. Heermance, Aunt Nelle Teeter, Mother Annie Maude Heermance, Sister Lavon Mcroy, Great Nieces and Nephews Angela K. Miller and her husband Jehrid Miller, Andrew Wilford, Sister Lenore Brown and Brother-in-Law Calvin Brown.

Survived by Jane Wilford (Andy), Tom Brown (Nancy), Ken Brown, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday, July 28, 2017 at 12:00pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call Friday from 10:30-11:30 at the same location. Interment Saturday, July 29 at 10 am at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
