Kathleen Thompson Woodbury

Kathleen Thompson Woodbury "Kathy" died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in Sandy, Utah at the age of 71, after a valiant struggle with Parkinson's Disease in the final years of her life. Kathy is survived by her husband of 50 years, T. Bowring Woodbury II "Beau" and her five children: Leslie Bangerter (Edward) of Sandy, UT, Thomas Woodbury III (Melissa) of Princeton, NJ, Todd Woodbury (Heather) of Las Vegas, NV, Matthew Woodbury (Jennifer) of Darien, CT, and Ashley Shontz (Anthony) of Darien, CT. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and two brothers: David Thompson and Donald Thompson. She is preceded in death by her brothers Fred and Joe Thompson, and both her parents.

Kathy was born on April 10, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Bessie Jackson Thompson and Burton Monroe Thompson. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah in 1964. She married T. Bowring Woodbury II, the love of her life, in 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They welcomed five children and made their home in areas including California, Utah, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Ohio, and Washington before settling down in St. George, Utah.

Kathy was a dedicated spouse and mother whose charity knew no bounds. She was a devoted educator, taking multiple teaching positions throughout her life. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including her favorites as seminary teacher and missionary. Additionally, she and her husband served three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Tacoma, Washington (1996-1999); Provo, Utah (2000-2002); and Kirtland, Ohio (2003-2006). She also enjoyed her many years of service as an ordinance worker in the St. George, Utah Temple.

Kathy was a generous individual; quick to share her talents and time with those in need. She was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her influence on those she knew cannot be measured. She is dearly loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends and will be immensely missed. The family would like to thank the staff of Sunrise Senior Living and Rocky Mountain Care for the unmatched care Kathy received in her final days.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 3, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT, where all are welcome to attend a viewing Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
