Richard L. Stoddard

1943 ~ 2016

Passed away peacefully on April 9, 2016 at the age of 73 in Salt Lake City. He was born February 16, 1943 in Vallejo, California to Berton L. Stoddard and Dorothy N. White Stoddard. Richard married Susan Packham Stoddard in Salt Lake City, Utah and was later sealed in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Richard received an Associate of Science degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University. He served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant in Germany from 1966 to 1969.

Richard was an avid reader. In his youth he loved science fiction novels, but as an adult he read mostly non-fiction, particularly biographies. He also loved reading religious books and the scriptures. He loved learning of any kind. His favorite T.V. channels were History and Discovery.

Richard is survived by his wife Susan Packham Stoddard, sisters Jean (Ron) Kaanehe, Dianne (David) Kroutil, cousins Barbara (Even) Madsen and Joe (Marcia) Stoddard. Richard and Susan did not have any children but have many nieces and nephews that they love and support. Richard loved seeing and talking to them. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Sat., April 16, 2016 at 11am at the LDS chapel, 6745 S. 500 E., Midvale. Visitations will be held on Fri. from 6-8pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy and from 9:30 to 10:30 Sat. at the church.
