Calvin David Meyers

1942 ~ 2018

Calvin Meyers, 75, passed away unexpectedly May 23, 2018. He was born August 30, 1942 to Melvin and Lola Stott Meyers in Murray Utah. He grew up in Murray Utah and attended Murray High School. He went on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter days Saints to Australia.

That is where he first met his future wife an Aussie named Jennifer Sanders. After returning to the states from his mission Calvin went to Canada where he met up with Jennifer again and began to date. They were married on October 2, 1967 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. They made their home in Murray Utah and had three children, Chris, Melinda and Cody. Calvin was employed as a truck driver first for Whalen Brothers furniture and then Jordan Meat company until he retired. Calvin loved all things western and country. He was rarely ever seen not wearing cowboy boots, a belt buckle and wranglers. He loved western movies, old country music and shooting six shooters and lever guns. He was a true cowboy at heart. After his wife suffered a stroke that left her disabled he rarely missed a day staying at her bedside attending to her needs in the nursing home and he put her to bed every night. Calvin had a very strong work ethic that he imparted to his children. He routinely worked 60+ hours a week without a complaint, to provide for his family. He loved being a grandfather and enjoyed attending his grandkids performances and watching them while his daughter worked. He also loved having "grand dogs". He looked forward every year for his annual trip to visit his son Cody and his wife Andrea who were stationed at Offutt AFB in Bellevue Nebraska. His grand-dogs loved to spend hours sitting on his lap, getting tummy rubs and getting extra treats when Cody and Andrea were not looking. They truly loved him and will forever look out the window waiting for their grandpa to come home.

Calvin was preceded in death by his dear wife, Jennifer Sanders Meyers and brother Bill. He is survived by his three children, Chris (Sylvia), Melinda (Kristian) Olsen and Cody (Andrea), five grandchildren Hayley, Elinn, Tallinn, Kylee, and Blake, 3 grand-dogs Oscar, Daisy, Zelda. Calvin is also survived by his sisters Linda Brinkerhoff and Marilyn Meyers.
