Judy Lynn Wagner Hribar

1943 ~ 2016

Judy Lynn Wagner Hribar, 72, died peacefully at her home on January 2, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Judy was born August 16, 1943 in LaHarpe, Illinois to Robert R. and Catherine E. Wagner. She grew up on a farm, out in the country, 9 miles east of Nauvoo, Illinois. She graduated from Nauvoo-Colusa High School in 1961. Following high school, she briefly attended the University of Iowa after which she received a nursing degree from Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. In addition to working as a nurse, she was also a flight attendant for United Airlines for a few years.

She married Louis F. Hribar on December 2, 1972 in Torrance, CA. They were sealed in the LDS Temple in Los Angeles in October 1973. Together they raised 6 children in Palos Verdes, California. She loved being a wife, mother and especially a grandmother.

While living in California, she participated in National Charity League, Las Candalistas, worked at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School as a cheer squad instructor, and at Rolling Hills Country Day School for 9 years.

Judy was a fun, kind and generous person, devoted to her family and to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many capacities in the Church, but being in Primary with the children was always her favorite. She loved children and had a gift for making them feel special. She loved playing with children, especially her grandchildren; and she could play with them for hours, doing whatever they wanted to do. Neighborhood children used to come to the door and ask if Judy could come out and play.

She was always thinking of others before herself. She freely gave of her time, continuously performing selfless acts of kindness and supporting everyone she knew in all their endeavors. She had a special ability to connect with and empathize with anyone she talked to.

Judy was the life of the party wherever she went. She hosted some great parties, and she loved to make people laugh. She always enjoyed a good football game. She loved gardening and often had beautiful flower gardens. She learned to play the piano in her youth and she used that talent throughout her life, especially in church. She was incredibly creative and could sew or build or make just about anything. She loved to take pictures. If, on occasion, she didn't have a camera with her, she would say "Take a picture with your heart." She simply loved others and loved to make them happy. She was a beautiful person, inside and out, and is loved by all who knew her.

After moving to Salt Lake City in 2001, one of the highlights of her life was working in the Salt Lake Temple with her husband, Lou, for 4 years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lou; children: Krista (Peter), Scott, Karen, Catherine (Frank), Jennifer (Rich) and Lori (Matt) and 15 grandchildren; brother, Bob Wagner. She is preceded in death by her parents.
