Brett Aaron Frakes

1991 ~ 2016

Brett Aaron Frakes, 25, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away, 6 December 2016. He was born 30 September 1991 in Pensacola, FL to John and Amy Frakes. He is a graduate of Frank W. Cox High School, Class of 2008, graduating at the age of 16. Son of a U.S. Navy Sailor, he lived in many places throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. Because of his upbringing, he made friends across the world.

He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout in Oct of 2008. Brett was best known for his lovely locks and beard as well as his membership in the SLC local band, Skin and Bones, in which he played bass guitar. Brett enjoyed longboarding, backpacking, music, increasing his wardrobe and spending time with his friends and family. Brett is survived by his parents, John and Amy, of Lakeland, TN; his sister Ashlei, her husband Tommy and their two daughters, Isabella and Valentina of Woodbridge, VA; and his brother Christopher, of Salt Lake City, UT. He also leaves behind his maternal great grandparents Eugene and Corelia Sanchez of Fort Collins, CO; his grandparents Gene and Doris Goetz of Sinclair, WY; and Tony and Angie Martinez of Rawlins, WY. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and members of the band: Dakota, Daniel, and Cooper.

He is preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents Jose S. and Celia M. Martinez of Laporte, CO; paternal grandparents Charles and Carolyn Frakes of Rawlins, WY; his aunt Dawn Frakes, his brother in-law Ammon Witters, his cousin Christopher Repsis and his nephew Matthew Franzino.

Funeral Arrangements are being handled by Larkin Mortuary of Salt Lake City, UT. The Funeral will be held on Saturday, 10 December 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 3863 E Oakview Dr. Salt Lake City, UT 84124, beginning at 2pm. A viewing will be held from 12:00 noon to 1:45pm.
