Helen Jean Perrine

1923 ~ 2016

Helen Jean Perrineof Salt Lake City, died on December 10, 2016, of natural causes. Helen was born Helen Jean Straggas on October 26, 1923, at Salt Lake City to George D. Straggas and Grace Solomon. As a teenager, she cared for her brothers, Bill and George, while her Dad worked as a miner at the Kennecott copper mines. After World War II, she married Pete Perrine, a returning hero who had survived the terrors of a prisoner of war camp in the Pacific. Helen held a variety of positions in the property management and hospitality industries. She recently lost her beloved dog, TuTu, who had been her companion for many years. She survived her beloved Pete, and is survived by her loving brother, George Richard Straggas, her niece and Goddaughter, Diana Straggas DeFrance, her nephews, Richard Straggas and George Straggas, and five grandnephews and grandnieces. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. Burial and graveside services will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City at 12:00 noon.
