E. Leland Eggleston

1922 ~ 2015

E. Leland "Lee" Eggleston, M.D. passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of June 20, 2015. He was born May 3, 1922 to Wilford and Maren Eggleston in Deweyville, Utah.

Lee grew up in Salt Lake City where he graduated from East High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. Following the war, he returned home and graduated from the University of Utah Medical School and spent his career as an Anesthesiologist.

In December 1953, he married Smythie Meriwether in Wewahitchka, Florida. They made their home in Salt Lake where they raised two children. Lee enjoyed golfing, traveling, woodworking, and spending time with his family. He also loved the mountains of Utah and especially the family cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon which he built himself in 1957. He was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Hidden Valley Country Club, and Christ United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Smythie, his parents, and brother Glen. He is survived by his son Craig, Sandy, Utah and daughter and son-in-law, LeAnne and Dale Sullivan, Boise, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E. 3300 S.
