Duane Gatzemeier returned to his Heavenly Father on April 11, 2015 after extended problems due to complications from diabetes. He was born on July 5, 1964, the son of Kurt and Ireta Jackson Gatzemeier. He graduated from Olympus High School. He married Flora Alice Poindexter on June 16, 1989 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had 6 wonderful children together.
Duane loved more than anything to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, and going to the Utah Bee's Games.
Duane is survived by his wife Flora Alice Poindexter and his children. Son, Duane Jr. (DJ), Daughters, Rebecca (Becky), Melissa, Sarah and the youngest son Matthew. Mother, Ireta. Siblings, Steven (Elsie) Gatzemeier, Renay Camp, Sandy (Jackson) Ewing, Mark (Cindy) Gatzemeier. Proceeded in death by his son, Brent, Father Kurt, and brother, John Gatzemeier.
A funeral will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Brookshire Ward Chapel (3478 S. 1300 E.). The family will meet with friends from 9:30 to 10:45 AM prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery. (2350 E. 1300 S.)
