Luana Kraus Dean

1930 ~ 2014

Our cute little mom, grandma, great-grandma and any day now, great-great, passed through the veil into the embrace of her eternal sweetheart on March 23, 2014.

Flora Luana Kraus Dean was born in Salt Lake City on Aug. 18, 1930 to Carrie Mabel Christensen Kraus Bumgarner and Roy E. Kraus. She grew up and lived the majority of her life in Wendover. She married our dad, Donald F. Dean on Aug. 23, 1946 in Elko, NV, later sealed in the Jordan River Temple. They were married for 46 years before dad passed in March of 1991.

Mom was always the one you turned to for answers. She was smart, funny, and an amazing judge of character, and always told it like it was, something we didn't always want to hear but we knew she was right. Lou was an EMT, school lunch lady, friend, temple worker, librarian and Mom Extraordinaire. We will miss her every day.

Preceded in death by her husband, Don, mom, father, step-father, Robert H. Bumgarner Sr., sister, Barbara and brother, Robert. Survived by her children, Nikki and Archie, Lynn, Scott and loved daughter-in-law Andrea; 7 grandchildren, 4 great and 1 great-great; sisters, Jean and Sharon and her Kraus family.

We would like to thank Mom's caregivers on 4 West-Progressive Care Unit @ St. Mark's Hospital and to Rocky Mtn. Hospice for their tender care of our Mom and ourselves. We appreciate you.

A viewing will be held Friday, March 28, from 6-8 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 South. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 29, at 11AM in the Mesa Park Ward, 8945 S. 1700 East, Sandy, with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:45AM. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com
