Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother was reunited with her eternal companion on Saturday, August 5th, 2017.
Phyllis was born November 5, 1930 to Harold Johnson Pyper and Verda Wright Pyper. She was the 4th of five girls. She married her high school sweetheart, Eldon Reid Smart, later sealedin the Salt Lake Temple, September 1951.
She was blessed with 7 children, Randall (Nancy Marcroft), Richard (Cheryl Ord), Janet (Rory Boyakin), Darrell (Sheila Hague), David (Abby Gutierrez), Jeffrey (Kim Holden), and Nicole Smart.
Preceded in death by parents, husband and 3 children, Richard, Janet, and Nicole; son-in-law Rory Boyakin; grandson Bay Smart; and great-grandson Keith Burnett. Also, sisters Helen Spencer, Eileen Thompson, Nida Thayer and Naomi Pyper.
Phyllis and Eldon served three inner-city missions. She also served in the D.C. Temple Mission, as well as numerous church callings. She loved family get togethers, reading, book club, gardening, DUP, friends, study groups, life, the Gospel, oh and red licorice!
It's been our privilege to have had her as a Mother and Grandmother. Her loving attention, service, example and support have been a strength to all of us. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at Valley View Third Ward, located at 1925 East Gunderson Lane, on Saturday, August 12th at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held at the same location on Friday, August 11th from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 p.m., and Saturday morning, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
